About the show

The Game Is Only Part of the Story

People see the goals, wins, championships, commitments, and highlight clips.

They rarely hear about the early mornings, long drives, family sacrifices, difficult coaches, injuries, cuts, trades, doubts, mentors, locker-room moments, and times when an athlete nearly gave up.

Flying With The Hawk goes beyond the scoreboard.

These are honest conversations about chasing something difficult, learning to compete, leading other people, overcoming setbacks, and discovering who you become along the way.

Who should come on the show

You Don’t Have to Be Famous. You Need a Story.

We are looking for athletes and sports personalities willing to have a real conversation.

Maybe you reached the highest level of your sport.

Maybe your career took an unexpected turn.

Maybe you were cut, traded, injured, overlooked, underestimated, or forced to reinvent yourself.

The best episodes are not always about the biggest names. They are about honest stories that athletes, parents, coaches, entrepreneurs, and leaders can learn from.

  • Current Athletes

Players currently competing in prep school, juniors, college, professional, or high-level amateur sports.

  • Former Athletes

People ready to reflect on what sports taught them, what they would do differently, and where the journey took them next.

  • Coaches and Sports Leaders

Coaches, trainers, executives, officials, team builders, mentors, and other people who shape athletes and teams.

  • Local Sports Stories

Compelling Philadelphia-area athletes and personalities whose stories deserve a larger audience.

  • Hockey Families and Mentors

Meet Hawk

Jim “Hawk” Jacobs is an entrepreneur, longtime hockey coach, sports father, and lifelong believer in the lessons learned through competition.

He has spent years around hockey players, teams, coaches, entrepreneurs, business owners, and high performers. He understands that the most interesting part of an athlete’s story is often what happened away from the crowd.

On Flying With The Hawk, Jim asks the questions that uncover the sacrifices, relationships, turning points, failures, victories, and life lessons behind each guest’s journey.

His interviewing style is energetic, curious, direct, encouraging, conversational, and unscripted.

He is not trying to conduct a formal press conference. He wants the real story.
